Four Easy Tips for Spring Cleaning

The Central Coast Team | August 22, 2024 @ 12:00 AM

Aaahhh, spring is here! The season of renewal and fresh starts.

And if you’re like many of us, rituals are a cornerstone of our lives.

Think about the new year for instance. January beckons decluttering with the

hope of creating clarity and serenity. You know, out with the old, in with the new.

Spring cleaning is about a refresh. A deep clean. An opportunity to reorganize.

It may seem daunting, but don’t worry. We’ve got some tips to make spring

cleaning a breeze.

Ready, set…GO!

Spring Cleaning’s Main Rule

Everything must have a home. Fear not! Your trusty storage unit is perfect for

seasonal or beloved items used less often. Consider these organizational ideas:

 A tub or cabinet for your kids’ toys; a basket for your furry babies’ toys

 Baskets for each person to place their everyday necessities (e.g., phones,

keys, and wallets). No more frantic, last-minute searches as you’re

scrambling to get out the door!

 Linen shelves labeled with sheet sizes for your different-sized beds

 A kitchen cabinet under-sink tension rod to hold spray bottles for cleaning

Start Small

To get started, pick a room or a project. Perhaps tackle the laundry room, or

maybe, deep clean the appliances.

Just remember, small successes make for big ones. You can’t go wrong.

Gather Your Supplies

With only a few essentials, an easy-to-carry container, and a vacuum, you’ll move

effortlessly from room to room. Time to grab the supplies:

 All-purpose cleaners and disinfectants

 Gloves (if you need them)

 Microfiber cloths

 Duster

 Trash bags - you’ll want a few to sort between throwing out, donating,

giving away, and selling

Don’t Forget Those Nooks and Crannies

Aside from the usual suspects (e.g., washing bedding, cleaning carpets, etc.),

there are a few oft-forgotten items requiring attention:

 Baseboards and walls cleaned

 Windowsills and tracks cleaned

 Light bulbs, light fixtures, and shades dusted

 Upholstery vacuumed

 Mattresses flipped or rotated

 Expired medications and old makeup tossed

Hopefully, you’re feeling inspired and empowered with these easy spring cleaning

ideas. All you have to do is start.

Crank up the music, and have some fun! Just imagine how great your space will

feel.

Now, click your heels three times and repeat, “There’s no place like home.”
